About Alice Salomon
Alice Salomon (1872-04-19) was a prominent German civil rights leader and social reformer known for her work in founding the German Academy for Women’s Social and Educational Work in 1925. Before her fame, she served as Deputy Chairman of the Federation of German Women’s Associations, advocating for single, poverty-stricken mothers.
During the 1930s, Salomon was interrogated by the Nazi Gestapo and forced to leave Germany. She eventually became a United States citizen in 1944. She was born to Anna and Albert Salomon and had seven siblings.
