About Alice Coltrane
Alice Coltrane, born on August 27, 1937 in Michigan, was a renowned pianist and one of the only harpists in jazz history. She gained popularity during the 1960s and 1970s and experienced a resurgence in the 1990s.
Prior to her fame, she worked as an intermission pianist at the Blue Note Club starting from 1960.
Coltrane was deeply involved with the teachings of Indian guru Sathya Sai Baba and established the Vedantic Center in 1975 after relocating to California in 1972.
She had four children: Michele, John Jr., Oranyan, and Ravi.
