About Alexina Louie
Alexina Louie, born on July 30, 1949 in Vancouver, Canada, is a Canadian composer known for her orchestral works such as “Songs of Paradise” and “Shattered Night, Shivering Stars”. She has also made significant contributions to chamber music, operas, and ballets. Her work falls under the category of contemporary art music.
Prior to gaining recognition as a composer, she pursued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of British Columbia.
Louie’s talent has been acknowledged with numerous accolades including winning the Juno Award for Best Classical Composition in 1989 and 2000. In addition, she was honored as an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2005.
She is married to composer and conductor Alex Pauk.
