Susan Moonsie, born on January 21, 1964, in Minnesota, is a renowned soul singer known for her involvement in the Prince-created vocal groups Apollonia 6 and Vanity 6 during the 1980s. She gained widespread recognition for her romantic relationship with Prince in the early part of that decade.

Before becoming well-known, she joined Vanity 6 at age eighteen but claimed to be sixteen. Additionally, there is speculation that the Prince hit “When Doves Cry” was inspired by his relationship with Moonsie.

Moonsie has a family background of Trinidadian heritage and spent her youth in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her marriage to David Garfield lasted from 1988 until his sudden death in 1994.
