About Alana Cordy-Collins
Alana Cordy-Collins (born June 5, 1944) is a renowned archaeologist known for her expertise in Peruvian history. She gained prominence through her excavation of historically significant tombs, most notably the Royal Tombs of Sipan in 1987.
Prior to achieving recognition in her field, Cordy-Collins earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
In one notable discovery at Dos Cabezas pyramid, she unearthed mummified individuals who were unusually tall – standing over 6 feet tall which was almost a foot taller than typical Moche individuals.
Cordy-Collins comes from a family with anthropological roots; her cousin Ross Cordy is also an anthropologist.
