Romy Madley Croft, born on August 18, 1989 in London, England, is a guitarist and vocalist best known for her role in the acclaimed British indie band The XX. In 2010, the band’s debut album xx received the prestigious Mercury Prize.

Prior to her music career, Romy was a student at Elliott School in Putney, England where she met future band members of The XX. Her band’s sophomore album Coexist reached number one on charts in various countries such as Belgium, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Romy comes from an artistic background with her mother being an art teacher and her father working at a library.
