Aimee Mullins (born July 20, 1976 in Allentown, Pennsylvania) is a model, Paralympic track & field competitor, public speaker, and screen actress. She gained recognition for her TED conference lectures and her appearances in films such as Cremaster 3 and World Trade Center. Despite having had both of her legs amputated as an infant due to a condition called fibular hemimelia, she went on to become an athlete at Georgetown University, competing on the school’s Division One track & field team.
Mullins has also made headlines for discussing her twelve sets of prosthetic limbs during a 2010 appearance on The Colbert Report. Additionally, she has attracted a large following on her aimeemullins Instagram account for lifestyle posts.
