Queen Ida Feet
Queen Ida, born on January 15, 1929 in Louisiana, is a Grammy Award-winning Creole accordion player acclaimed for leading the first all-male Cajun zydeco music group. With numerous albums to her name such as Mardi Gras and Back on the Bayou, Queen Ida has left an indelible mark on the music industry.
Before gaining fame as a musician, she honed her musical skills playing both the piano and the accordion during her childhood. In addition to her musical contributions, Queen Ida co-authored Cookin’ with Queen Ida in 1990.
Born in Louisiana and reared in various cities including Lake Charles, Beaumont and San Francisco; Queen Ida continues to be celebrated for breaking barriers as a female bandleader in a traditionally male-dominated genre.
