Ray Charles was born in Albany, Georgia, on September 23, 1930. He is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of soul music, blending elements of rhythm and blues, gospel, and jazz. With hits like “What’d I Say” and “Georgia on My Mind,” Charles’s influence on music is immeasurable, earning him multiple Grammy Awards and a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Despite losing his eyesight at a young age, Charles refused to be defined by his blindness, instead focusing on his passion for music and performing. He passed away on June 10, 2004, leaving behind a timeless legacy that continues to inspire generations.
