About Abd Al Malik
Abd Al Malik, born on March 14, 1975 in Paris, France, is a French-Congolese rapper and spoken word artist. He gained recognition as a member of the rap group New African Poets in the 90’s, releasing three albums with them before pursuing a solo career.
Prior to his musical endeavors, Abd Al Malik spent much of his early childhood in the Congo. As a teenager, he was involved in petty crime but turned to reading as an escape from that lifestyle.
Abd Al Malik converted to Islam in 1999 and adopted his stage name shortly after. In 1998, he married singer Wallen with whom he shares a child.
His solo album “Gibraltar” released in 2006 marked his emergence as a prominent figure within the music industry.
