Marta Marrero, born on May 18, 1969 in Whittier, California, is a pop singer known for her late 1980s and early 90s albums Martika and Martika’s Kitchen. Three tracks from Martika were Top 40 hits, including “Toy Soldiers,” which went Gold.Before her fame as a solo artist, she played Gloria on the show Kids Incorporated and was featured in Mr. T’s video Be Somebody…Or Be Somebody’s Fool! She then signed with Columbia Records.Her first onscreen role was a minor part in the movie Annie in 1982.

Additionally, she and her husband formed the band Oppera in 2003. Marrero’s husband is musician Michael Mozart and her parents came to US from Cuba.
