Margarita Vargas, born on October 3, 1960 in Barranquilla, Colombia, is a Colombian music legend known as The Goddess of Cumbia. Her platinum-selling album “30 Anos de Cumbia” (2011) solidified her status as a world music singer.

Vargas received the Knight Degree from the Colombian government for her significant contributions to Colombian culture.Before gaining fame, she was raised in Barranquilla and began working at age 14 following the sudden death of her father.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, she was named Best Tropical Music Performer by Furia Musical multiple times.

Margarita has three sisters and one brother, along with a daughter named Eugenia.
