Margarethe von Trotta Feet

Margarethe von Trotta, born on February 21, 1942 in Germany, is a prominent figure in the New German Cinema movement and an influential director in feminist cinema. She is best known for her work on the film Marianne and Juliane. Before gaining recognition as a director, von Trotta co-directed short films and worked as an actress in productions such as those by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. In 2003, she received the Italian Golden Globe Award for Best European Film for her work on Rosentrasse. Von Trotta was married to fellow director Volker Schlondorff.
