Lotte Reiniger Feet
Lotte Reiniger, born on June 2, 1899 in Germany, was a pioneering director known for her groundbreaking work in silhouette animation. Throughout her career, she created over forty animated films, including notable works such as The Adventures of Prince Achmed and a series of BBC shorts based on Grimms’ Fairy Tales.
Prior to gaining recognition for her innovative technique, Reiniger directed her acclaimed debut film Das Ornament des Verliebten Herzens in 1919. Her second animated feature Doktor Dolittle und Seine Tiere featured music by the renowned composer Kurt Weill.
In 1921, she married fellow director Carl Koch, who would go on to become both her spouse and frequent artistic collaborator.
