Nina Dobrev, born on January 9, 1989 in Sofia, Bulgaria, is a television actress known for her award-winning role as Elena Gilbert/Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries. Throughout her career she has also appeared in films such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Roommate.
Before finding fame in acting, Dobrev trained in ballet and jazz dance while competing in rhythmic gymnastics. She first gained recognition playing Mia Jones on Degrassi: The Next Generation and Degrassi Goes Hollywood.
