Francesca Martinez, born on August 5th, 1978 in London, England, is an English stand-up comedian known for her sold-out shows around the world, including Australia, Ireland, Singapore and the United States. Despite having cerebral palsy herself, she is an outspoken advocate for disability rights and has been honored with awards such as the Public Affairs Achiever of the Year Award.

Prior to gaining fame as a comedian, Martinez appeared in over 60 episodes of the BBC1 children’s drama series Grange Hill starting in 1994. In addition to her successful comedy career, she is also a best-selling author with her book What the **** is Normal?! being nominated for various accolades such as The Bread And Roses Radical Publishing Award and Chortle Comedy “Best Book” Award.

Martinez comes from a multicultural background; her father is Spanish while her mother has English and Swedish heritage.
