Frances Arnold Feet

Frances Arnold, born on July 25, 1956 in Pennsylvania, is an American biologist known for her groundbreaking work in the field of directed evolution. She has been elected to The National Academy of Sciences, The National Academy of Engineering, and the Institute of Medicine – a rare accomplishment for any scientist. Prior to gaining recognition for her contributions to science, she earned her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California Berkeley.

In addition to receiving the Draper Prize in 2011 for her innovative engineering work, Frances Arnold was honored with a Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2018. Outside of her professional achievements, she has three sons.
