She rose to prominence for her roles in the 1931 film Expensive Women and Outside these Walls.Before gaining fame, Costello had acted as a child alongside her father and sister in The Evil Men Do and The Telephone. Throughout her career, she starred in several successful films including This Is the Army (1943), Noah’s Ark (1928), and The Magnificent Ambersons (1942).
